What drew you to RISE?
A few things drew me to RISE: the facilities are beautiful, they're really world-class, but also the support from management makes a huge difference.
What is your training specialty?
My training specialty is Pilates, so I am a Pilates girly all day, every day.
And what’s in your gym bag or work bag?
I think I've got my dermal lip balm, and my Samsung earbuds - oh, and a drink bottle.
How do you take care of yourself physically and mentally?
I try to get lots of sleep; I am a big sleeper. I try to eat a balanced diet, where I can, even though I go through naughty phases. Now we're eating bacon and egg muffins every morning.
However, finding balance, including making time for myself, spending time with my husband, Nate, and moving my body regularly, definitely makes a huge difference in helping my mental health as well. Releasing endorphins is very important, and it just activates the body.
What app on your phone would you recommend for wellness?
I don’t have any wellness apps. The closest thing I have to a wellness app is my period app, which is Stardust, and it probably is my favourite app because it helps you track your cycle, which then enables you to manage your energy levels and how you might want to move your body depending on where you’re at in your cycle. Also, they just have hilarious quotes every day that make me giggle, so I do love that.
What’s the last thing you do before going to sleep?
The last thing I do before going to sleep is to spoon my husband. Big spoon. Skin-to-skin contact is just a nice way to lull you into a nice deep sleep.
And what’s one piece of advice that you regularly give to your clients and the RISE community?
One piece of advice that I regularly give clients is to listen to their bodies. So, if you have attended or will attend my classes regularly, you will likely hear me say, "Take it, try it, or leave it." That means that whenever I throw options out there in class, you can take it, give it a go, and if it's not for you, feel free to just ditch it. I think it is really important to listen to your body. It's nice to lean into the challenges whenever you can, but take a beat sometimes and just look inwards.
Abby’s philosophy is simple: move with intention, listen to your body, and don’t forget to laugh along the way. Whether you're easing into your first class or chasing a new challenge, her grounded, feel-good approach makes every session one worth showing up for.
