Alan McKay believes the future is flexible. At JLL, Alan helps buildings and workplaces adapt to the future, and believes that the opportunity for hybrid work lies in buildings operating more like luxury hotels, by providing highly curated experiences. As part of the team working closely with 101 Collins on future projects, Alan ensures that the building continues to be more than a workplace, by providing quality, value and community now and into the future.
We have spent a lot of time working with the owners thinking about this question, especially in regards to placemaking. Understanding who occupies the building, what drives them, what they value and the future demographics – I think that really helps. We are about to go through an evolution in worker expectations and needs as we move past the pandemic. Building users will redefine what they want from an office space and it’s our job to be one step ahead and support their future needs.
We have started to touch on the need for additional shared spaces for food, beverage and wellness; creating an experience in almost the same way you would curate a luxury hotel. The arrival experiences, the things outside of the footprint of the office, those are the things that can help businesses do better because they remove pain points for occupiers.
More than an iconic Melbourne landmark, 101 Collins Street is where influential businesses exchange exceptional ideas.
