What drew you to RISE?
I’ve been at RISE for three years now, and what keeps me here is the people. The customers are so hardworking and friendly, and the team is incredibly supportive and encouraging. I love that we’re all a part of creating such a beautiful community. The atmosphere, the plants, and the facilities themselves also make it such a special place to be.
What is your training specialty?
I am the Studio Manager at RISE and specialise in Pilates and strength & conditioning – both privates and group classes.
What’s in your gym bag?
My work bag is always a little bit of a mess! I usually have my laptop and display screen, a spare change of activewear, notepads and pens because I’m a sucker for a list and love ticking things off, plus the essentials like lip balm, deodorant, sweat towel and whatever else I haven’t found a home for.
How do you take care of yourself physically and mentally?
I love going for walks with my dog or meeting friends for a social walk. Pilates and fitness classes are also a big part of my week – although I’ve been managing a hip injury for the past six months, so that’s been challenging. Normally, I’d add running into the mix too - one day soon… I usually fill up my weekends (and weeks) with social catch-ups. Moving my body and connecting with others is what keeps me balanced.
What app on your phone would you recommend for wellness?
I’d say the Health app that comes with the iPhone. If you’ve got a connected watch, it’s great for tracking workouts, steps, sleep, and even sleep quality. It’s super simple but effective.
What’s the last thing you do before you go to sleep?
I’m guilty of a bit of doomscrolling (working on it!), but I try to have a cup of sleepy tea (usually from T2), brush my teeth, put on a sleep mask, and wind down properly.
What’s one piece of advice you regularly give your customers and the RISE community?
Don’t be too hard on yourself. A lot of people worry about starting out or coming to a class for the first time, but at RISE we cater for all abilities, and everyone is welcome. Just giving it a go is something to be really proud of, plus you get to workout with the best instructors in the biz!
